Before he visited Notre Dame last week, Anthonie Knapp‍ said he thought it could be a school that checked all the boxes for him.

Well, it was, which is why the 2024 Georgia offensive lineman just announced his commitment to the Irish.

“Notre Dame is just big on football and that's like the whole thing,” Knapp told Irish Sports Daily prior to the public announcement.

“I love playing football in the cold, so it's a good match. Having that name across my chest, I feel like that's just going to be a great honor.”

Knapp gives the Irish a pair of 2024 offensive line commits, joining Pennsylvania’s Peter Jones, and gives Joe Rudolph his first pledge since being named Notre Dame’s offensive line coach.

And Rudolph played a major role in this one, bringing his connection with the Roswell High School standout over with him from Virginia Tech.

“I love Coach Rudolph,” Knapp told Irish Sports Daily. “I have a very long history with him. He was the first offensive line coach to offer me a Power Five scholarship.”

Knapp said he also loves Marcus Freeman.

“I think he's great and I love the program and I like the family they have built there,” he said. “It's just something I want to be a part of.”

Knapp chose the Irish over offers from schools like Penn State, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Indiana, NC State and Virginia among several others.

He plans on being a “really aggressive, quick offensive lineman,” for the Irish.

“I think that's what I'm known for,” he continued. “My speed is above average. It makes me unique. I take a lot of pride in being aggressive, pushing kids 15 yards down the field. Obviously, I know you won't be able to do that at the next level, but that's just the aggression I'm going to bring and that's the aggression they will get.”

When Knapp says he wanted to get the process over, he means it and doesn’t intend to continue considering any other schools.

“I want to be respectful because every coach takes time out of their day and out of their family to recruit me. I just think it's great to be straight up with every coach. If a school is loyal to me, I'm going to be loyal to them and that's just a fact.”
