Pot Of Gold Recap: Notre Dame Eyeing Big Time Wide Receivers In 2025 Class

A look at the 2025 wide receivers offered by Notre Dame during Pot of Gold

Since wide receivers coach Chansi Stuckey came to the program before last season, he has quickly turned a thin and underachieving wide receiver room into a potential strength heading into the 2023 season. A big reason for that optimism is because of the recruiting efforts by Stuckey and the offensive staff. The depth of talent has quickly turned a corner.

The 2024 recruiting class is an important one for the Irish. They must follow up their stellar four-man class in 2023 with another strong group. It has gotten off to a. Tremendous start with Chicago star wide receiver Cam Williams, and must fill out with even more talented pass catchers.

We got a brief sneak peek into the 2025 recruiting class on Friday during the Pot of Gold offer day. The Notre Dame staff extended offers to nine talented pass catchers during the event.

A FEW NAMES TO KNOW

It appears to be yet another talented wide receiver class in the 2025 recruiting class. One name that will bring back nostalgia and a lot of memories from Notre Dame fans is Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy wide receiver Jerome Bettis Jr., whose father was one of the all-time greats for the Irish.

The elder Bettis was a member of the Irish program from 1990-92 before being selected in the first round of the 1993 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams.

Bettis went on to make six Pro Bowls, rush for 13,662 yards and was selected to the National Football Hall of Fame in 2015.

Notre Dame has once again targeted key recruiting areas to identify some of the more talented wide receivers. One of the nation's best overall players - and best receivers - is in Notre Dame's backyard. That would be Geneva (Ill.) Community wide receive Talyn Taylor, who is a dynamic pass catcher and a must get for the Irish in the 2025 class.

Taylor has a game that is extremely similar to former Ohio State wide receiver Garrett Wilson, bringing an outstanding combination of smoothness, explosion and long speed to the table. He is a player that Irish fans should keep extremely close tabs on. He'll be on campus on Saturday to see the Irish in practice.

Out of California, the staff is keeping close eyes on Mission Hills (Calif.) Bishop Alemany standout Phillip Bell III. Bell is a springy athlete who can create separation on all levels of the field.

The staff also has their eyes on a couple of talented athletes out of the state of Florida in Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin star Jaime Ffrench and Pensacola (Fla.) Catholic standout Koby Howard. Ffrench is the younger brother of former Pittsburgh Panther wideout Maurice Ffrench.

Texas is another area that the staff is trying to frequent more often. On Friday, they extended offers to Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy athlete Daylan McCutcheon and Red Oak (Texas) HS standout Taz Williams. McCutcheon is the teammate of top 2024 linebacker target Payton Pierce. Williams, on the other hand, is one of the more natural athletes on the list.

The rest of the class is made up of Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame Prep star Cooper Perry and Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic Quincy Porter. Each of these players bring an interesting profile to the table.

Perry, who wears the No. 10 for Notre Dame Prep, has a game incredibly reminiscent of current Los Angeles Rams Pro Bowler Cooper Kupp. Porter is the biggest member of the board at 6-3 and 190 pounds, making a bevy of plays working above the rim.
