Notre Dame baseball, softball win home openers

NOTRE DAME —
The Notre Dame baseball and softball teams opened their home schedules with wins on Tuesday.

Notre Dame softball beat Miami (OH) 11-3 in five-innings, while the Irish baseball team beat Valparaiso 8-4.
The baseball team used home runs from Zach Prajzner and Jake Zyska to help new head coach Shawn Stiffler pick up his first win at Frank Eck Stadium. Notre Dame baseball improves to 10-8.

Notre Dame softball was led by Joley Mitchell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and hit a home run. Leea Hanks added a 3-for-4 performance with a homer of her own and a homer. Carlli Kloss and Payton Tidd added a pair of two-hit performances. Tidd drove in two with Kloss adding on RBI. The softball team improves to 17-7.
