
NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH) — A driver died in a crash early Sunday morning on East Main Street at Stonington Road (Route 2) in Norwich, according to the fire department.
Just before 2 a.m. Sunday, firefighters and police responded to the report of a car on fire after it hit a pole and crashed into a garage.
Fire officials said the driver was trapped inside their vehicle, which was on its side and in an unstable position in the garage.
After removing parts of the vehicle’s roof, first responders got the driver out and took them to a hospital, where fire officials said they were pronounced dead.
Authorities have not released the driver’s gender, name, or age.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
