The Norwalk softball team swept a varsity doubleheader at Grinnell on Friday night, winning by scores of 2-1 and 8-0 in Little Hawkeye Conference action. The baseball team was not as fortunate, continuing to fall short in close games with a pair of 5-4 losses to the Tigers.

The Class 4A 2nd-ranked Warrior softball team has now won six games in four nights since being swept by Indianola in a doubleheader on Monday. Norwalk took the lead in game one behind a two-run fifth inning. Game two turned into a late rout as the Warriors scored three runs in the second and four in the seventh.

The Norwalk baseball squad lost by identical 5-4 scores in their twin bill, dropping to 4-12 overall and 2-6 in the Little Hawkeye. The Warriors, who have also lost four extra-inning games this season, will host Pella Christian on Monday night at 7:30.

The Warrior softball team is now 11-2 overall and 6-2 in conference play. They will cap a busy 10-game week at today’s Cedar Rapids Xavier Classic, facing 4A ninth-ranked Burlington at 4:30 p.m. and 4A No. 11 Xavier at 6:15.
