The Norwalk girls soccer team will open their 2023 season on Monday night, hosting the ADM Tigers. The junior varsity game will start at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 7:00.

The Warrior girls finished last season 17-4 overall and advanced to the Class 2A state semifinals for the second consecutive year. Their season ended with a 1-0 loss to Waverly-Shell Rock.

Norwalk graduated an outstanding senior class, led by Iowa’s 2022 Miss Soccer, JoJo Bice, who scored 46 goals and finished her three-year varsity career with 79 goals and 31 assists.

This year’s top returning scorers are sophomore Braelyn Clark and junior Addison Burch, who combined for 19 goals last season. Returning goalies Zoey Davenport and Ellie Dueland combined for 45 saves. Anna Larson, who tallied eight goals and nine assists as a sophomore, will miss the upcoming season due to injury.

ADM finished 10-8 last season and was defeated by Norwalk 6-0 in the season opener.
