NORTHPORT, Ala. (WBRC) - The Northport Police Department responded to a shooting Tuesday in the 2700 Block of 43rd Ave in Northport.

Police say there was a shooting at Georgetown Apartments around 10:45 a.m.

Northport police say a 54-year-old male was found shot and was transported for medical treatment. The injuries to not appear to be life threatening, according to authorities.

Police say 29-year-old Cedric Alexander Sanders, Jr. was identified as a suspect and has been charged with Assault 1st degree.

Sanders is currently being held at the Tuscaloosa County jail on a $30,000 cash bond.

Police say the motive appears to have been a verbal argument.

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation.
