Hughesville, Pa. — A woman was covered in bruises and swelling after a fight with her boyfriend, police say.

Investigators were called to Geisinger Muncy Hospital on July 26 for reports of a woman allegedly injured in a domestic disturbance. The female accused Gregory Gunsallus, 40, of assault and described a physical altercation with him in the 60 block of Cottage Street, Trooper Lance Klinger said.

The victim had bruising on her forehead, both arms, her neck, and right ankle, Klinger added.

Gunsallus allegedly slapped and punched the woman in the head as she struggled to get away from him. At one point, Gunsallus strangled the accuser for 10 to 15 seconds, according to the complaint.

Troopers took Gunsallus into custody at his apartment on Cottage Street. Gunsallus allegedly admitted to being in a fight with the victim.

Gunsallus is being charged with strangulation, simple assault, and harassment. He is free on $35,000 unsecured bail.
