WESTFIELD – The Westfield Bombers experienced a turbulent takeoff to start the 2023 gymnastics season, but their final destination proved to be a smooth landing. Westfield ran into a roadblock in their season opener in late September, falling to the season’s first All-Around victor, Tyler Hetu and the Hampshire Regional Red Raiders. On that day, Bombers sophomore gymnast Annika Van Oostveen finished second in the All-Around. Her team was also runner-up.

Tree farm on Westfield’s North Side receives permit to open disc golf course
WESTFIELD — The Planning Board on Nov. 21 approved an application by Allen Tree Farm LLC for a special permit and site plan to open a disc golf course on North Road. Rob Levesque of R. Levesque Associates told the board the Allen family owns “a beautiful property” off the road. It consists of a strip that starts at North Road, and an approximately 100-acre rectangle in the back. A tree farm already exists on the land and will continue to operate alongside the course.
