One-time payments up to $800 arriving this month in South Carolina
If you have filed taxes in South Carolina, you should have already received a payment from the state or you can expect it this month. Last year, Governor Henry McMaster signed a bill to approve refunds as well as an income tax rate cut. It will be a full refund for those who paid $800 or less, which includes 33% of taxpayers.
Three kids, one adult killed in domestic mass shooting in South Carolina
Three children and one man were killed in an apparent domestic mass shooting in South Carolina, authorities said. A second man, who authorities believe was the shooter, was also found dead at the scene Tuesday night, the Sumter Police Department said. Additional information was not immediately available. Police in Sumter, about 45 miles east of Columbia, said they didn't believe there's a threat to the public.

Georgia couple arrested for tax fraud in South Carolina
A Georgia couple was arrested on tax fraud charges March 22 by agents from the South Carolina Department of Revenue. Agents charged one person with preparing false income tax returns in others' names and accused the couple of diverting more than $65,000 in refunds to their separate bank accounts, according to a news release.
