‘Oh my goodness!’ Driver busted with marijuana on way to pick up Mushroomhead equipment

NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio

Drug abuse: Royalton Road

On May 12, police observed a speeding black Chrysler Pacifica traveling west on Royalton Road. That’s also when the officer noticed that the Pacifica didn’t have any rear taillights illuminated.

When told about the lights, the driver, who had a small dog on his lap, said, “Oh my goodness!”

The man, who said it was a rental car, also smelled like marijuana.

The driver, a former North Royalton resident who had just arrived from Portland and had a Florida driver’s license, said he was in town to pick up equipment from Cleveland-based band Mushroomhead.

When told that his vehicle smelled like marijuana, the man said, “Exactly.”

Despite the fact that he didn’t consent to a vehicle search, the driver was told that the odor gave the officer probable cause.

That’s when the man admitted to having marijuana in the Chrysler. During a search of the Pacifica, police found a baggie of marijuana and a THC vape pen.

He was cited for drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia. The officer gave the driver a verbal warning regarding the taillight violation.
