2 dead after truck crashes into ditch in Essex County
WEST ORANGE, N.J. -- Two people were killed Tuesday morning when their truck crashed into a ditch in West Orange.Chopper 2 flew over the scene on Northfield Avenue.Sources told CBS New York the truck's driver may have suffered a medical emergency. The truck apparently was in a parking lot when it crashed through a fence, and into a drainage ditch.The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the crash.

Police News: Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle in Mountainside Intersection
MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ - A 27-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle on November 27, 2023, at approximately 10:56 a.m. The incident occurred at the intersection of Summit Road and Wyoming Drive. Upon their arrival, Mountainside Police Department officers discovered the victim, an Elizabeth resident, in the roadway. The victim, who works as a landscaper and was using a leaf blower, had entered the roadway in front of the vehicle before being hit. The driver of the vehicle, a 94-year-old Mountainside resident, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. In a life-saving measure, police officers applied a tourniquet to the victim before emergency medical services arrived. The victim was then airlifted by a New Jersey State Police helicopter to University Hospital in Newark, where he is currently in stable condition.
