Stacey did not say if the student will face any consequences for bringing the BB gun, adding only that the school would follow Clark County School District policies and would take appropriate action.
The principal urged parents to report any concerns about school safety using the SafeVoice reporting system by calling 1-833-216-SAFE(7233).
The entire message that was sent to parents at Raul Elizondo Elementary School on Thursday is below:
This is Chris Stacey, Principal at Raul P. Elizondo Elementary School.
As always, we want to keep you informed of important issues happening within and around our school community. Today, we confiscated a BB gun from a student on the campus of Elizondo ES. There were no threats to students or the school.
While we can not discuss individual student matters, all CCSD policies and procedures are being followed, and appropriate action will be taken.
Please take this opportunity to discuss school safety with your student. If they ever face a situation where they are unsure whether or not to share information with an adult, please remind them to never hesitate to report anything that may be a safety issue.
Students and parents can also make reports through the SafeVoice reporting system by calling 1-833-216-SAFE(7233), through the website at safevoicenv.org or through the free downloadable phone app.
If you have any questions about your child, please feel free to contact the school’s main office at 702-799-1730.
