BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (WTVG) - Six new firefighters were recently hired by the Bowling Green Fire Division, three of them female, a first for the department. “The guys haven’t treated me any different than any of the other guys, you would expect going in never working with a female before that there would be awkward moments or they just wouldn’t know what to do in certain situations, but honestly everyone’s been great, they treat me and the other female firefighters just as one of the guys and that’s what we want coming into a job like this,” said Kayla Laumann, 24, who has been with the fire department for the past six months.

A 12-year-old girl was arrested Friday evening in City Park after she assaulted an officer with Bowling Green Police Division. Convict who fled the country with his mother’s alleged killer is back in Wood County
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (WTVG) - A man who fled the country with a teen accused of killing his mother is back in Wood County. Jonathon Robert Jones, 33, who prosecutors said fled to Mexico while evading his sentencing for his convictions on a series of sex crimes, has been extradited from the facility he was being held in in Texas and is now back in custody at the Wood County jail, according to the jail roster.

Driver of a motorcycle loses his life after colliding with a tractor in Hancock County. According to Hancock County Sheriff Mike Heldman, the crash happened just before six last night on County Road 226 near Township Road 261 in Washington Township. 39-year-old Dustin Shively was riding a motorcycle westbound when he struck the tractor making a turn. Shively was not wearing a helmet and was killed in the crash. The driver of the tractor, 61-year-old Marvin Kelbley of Fostoria was not injured.
Family of Brianna Grier, Georgia woman who fell out of moving police vehicle, files wrongful death lawsuit
(MACON, Ga.) -- Family members of Brianna Grier, the Georgia woman who died last year after falling out of a moving police vehicle, said they are filing a lawsuit against the officers involved in the incident. The complaint, which was obtained by ABC News, names Lt. Marlin Primus, Deputy Timothy Legette and Hancock County Sheriff Tomlyn Primus as defendants. The lawsuit claims that deputies "unlawfully and willfully seized and restrained the decedent, falsely arrested the decedent, unnecessarily handcuffed the decedent, picked her up and dropped her multiple times, ignored her cries for help and deprived her of medical assistance, caused injury to her head and brain and ultimately caused her death." Mary Grier, Brianna Grier's mother, spoke out at a press conference on Wednesday, saying the officers were aware of Grier's mental health issues. "I don't think they did her right," she said.
Car sinks in Findlay Reservoir; no one hurt
FINDLAY — The Findlay Police Department investigated a car that sank in the Findlay Reservoir #2 on Monday. Aubrey Victory, 25, of Findlay, stopped a Ford Focus facing the boat ramp to unload. Grenade found in Hancock County
The Northwest Ohio Bomb Squad responded Sunday to the discovery of a grenade in Hancock County, the Hancock County Sheriff's office reported. The bomb squad, which is an arm of the Toledo Police Department, was dispatched to an area near State Rt. 235 and Trail 93 in Blanchard Township west of Findlay, where a farmer inspecting his field came across what he believed to be a hand grenade. The item was said to resemble an MK 2 grenade, known for its pineapple like shape, which was widely used by American forces during World War II. The suspected grenade was recovered, rendered safe and transported to a safe location by the squad, a statement from the Hancock County Sheriff’s office said.

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A man is in custody after making posts on Facebook indicating a shooting was going to occur at an elementary school, police said. 22-year-old Hancock County man charged with raping a 15-year-old
BLUFFTON, OH (WLIO) - A Bluffton area man has been charged for allegedly raping a teenager. 22-year-old Dillon Amos was indicted by the Hancock County Grand Jury on the charges of rape and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. The charges are from an alleged incident that happened in June of 2022 when Amos was 21 and the victim was 15. Amos has a hearing scheduled in his case next month.
