Norfolk firefighters called to SPSA Waste Plant trash fire

Fire crews worked for hours moving trash around at the SPSA Norfolk Transfer Station trying to fully extinguish the flames.

NORFOLK, Va. — A trash pile at the SPSA Waste Plant in Norfolk caught fire Wednesday morning.

The call came in around 2:45 a.m. When firefighters with Norfolk Fire-Rescue arrived at the plant, located in the 3100th block of Woodland Avenue, they found a large trash pile on fire.

Fire crews worked for hours moving trash around trying to fully extinguish the flames. 

There were no injuries to firefighters.
