Weather alert for heavy rain in 5 Massachusetts counties Saturday evening
The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 4:43 p.m. on Saturday for heavy rain until 6:15 p.m. for Middlesex, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk and Plymouth counties. "At 4:43 p.m., Doppler radar tracked an area of heavy rainfall approaching the Greater Boston metro area. Rainfall rates could be as high as 2.0 inches per hour," says the weather service. "Minor nuisance flooding of typically flood prone areas."
