Baker County Bridge will reopen on March 24, 2023

BAKER COUNTY, GA – A county road bridge that was built in 1960 will reopen.

A new bridge was built in its place under the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Low Impact Bridge Program.

During the last inspection in 2021, the bridge showed signs of cracks and leaking deck joints, among other issues. It is posted for weight limit.

The new bridge is up to state and national highway standards.

GDOT contractors will reopen Cross Road over Big Cypress Creek, about 14 miles southwest of Newton. Local traffic will be able to access areas on either side of the bridge.

Tentatively scheduled to open March 24, 2023, barring inclement weather and/or any unforeseen events.
