Under the program, SNAP recipients earn $1 in rewards for every $1 spent on eligible fruits, vegetables and beans, up to $10 per day.“In the richest city in the richest country in the history of the world, too many New York families can’t afford the groceries they need,” said Mayor Mamdani. “Get the Good Stuff helps SNAP recipients stretch their benefits further and bring home fresh fruits, vegetables and beans. We’re expanding this program because every New Yorker deserves access to nutritious food, no matter how much money they make.”The rewards can be used toward future purchases of eligible foods. Qualifying items include fresh, frozen, canned and dried produce and beans without added sugar, salt or fat.The expansion aims to help households facing high grocery costs while supporting neighborhood supermarkets. Health Department research cited in the announcement found that nearly eight in 10 adults at risk of food insecurity had difficulty affording balanced meals.Eighteen percent had eaten no fruits or vegetables the previous day and nearly one-third had received food from emergency services such as food pantries.Since 2019, Get the Good Stuff has supported $8.9 million in eligible food purchases at participating stores and generated more than $12 million in economic impact, according to the city. The expansion is backed by a $5.7 million federal grant through the Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program. The city also secured $3.1 million in baseline funding for fiscal 2027.The announcement follows a separate increase to Health Bucks, the city’s farmers market voucher program. Starting in 2027, the daily limit for SNAP recipients will rise 40%, from $10 to $14.Participants can use the NYC Health Map to find stores and markets offering the programs. Grocery stores interested in joining Get the Good Stuff can apply through Nov. 20.</div></body>
