You’re not alone!Starting on Oct. 24, all of the ten dryers in Crimson Hall suddenly stopped working, leaving students with bundles of soaked laundry, no clothes to wear for their classes, and a plethora of frustration. Crimson Hall is already a large housing facility with a very small laundry room. According to BSU’s official website, Crimson houses roughly 408 upperclassmen, while most dorms on campus house between 200-300, with the exception of Weygand Hall, which houses 500. Many of these smaller halls, such as Scott and Woodward, have the same amount of laundry machines as Crimson; eight each. Because Weygand Hall is the newest building, built in 2013, it holds roughly sixteen washers and dryers for 500 people. However, a hall with only a portion less of the students has the same amount of laundry machines as a hall with a quarter of these students – with Crimson housing eight washers and ten dryers. This is already a recurring issue for Crimson residents, but with the current laundry issues, this has only become more apparent. As of Oct. 28, facility members could only fix half of the dryers, with multiple of the washers suddenly being broken as well. Students reported receiving their laundry sopping wet, not properly washed, or repeatedly not drying in machines that were labeled as fixed. One student, senior Quinn McCabe, expressed that, “It’s been very frustrating to deal with … there are times where I have to rewash my laundry three times just to get it dry enough to quickly air dry.” He further suggested, “There needs to be more machines here but also there should be lessons on how to use the laundry room. I doubt everyone here has done laundry on their own before, so they might just be overloading the machines.” As of writing this article, there are seven working dryers and six working washers for 408 students. In discussing the issue with Crimson residents, it has caused students to miss class or other commitments, either because they had no wearable clothes or in attempting to find an open time to do laundry. Regardless, with residents paying a bill that covers a laundry fee, they shouldn’t have to jump through this many hoops to have clean clothes.</div></body>
