PILOT Funds and Schools: Just Because You Can Doesn’t Mean You Should

8 hours agoI would like to thank Mr. Sandahl for reminding us of the age old principle that just because one can, doesn’t mean one should. As he correctly points out in his recent Letter to the Editor (Setting the Record Straight on PILOTs), the state law does not require municipalities to allocate a single dime of PILOT funds to schools, thus shifting the burden of the largest component of property taxes to legacy property owners.
