Village officials said the village is understaffed after two full-time water department employees and a part-time associate left the village.A village official said the two roles would help the village cover staffing gaps and respond more quickly when employees are out.“In my opinion, the two roles that we're hiring for not only backfill just general needs within the village, but they allow us to be a little bit more flexible and filling some of those spaces or especially, as you know, we have people that are absent around you know sick leave or having children and growing their own families within our community," Council President Salvatore Deluca said. "Being able to be quick to respond to the needs of those positions.“On top of that, if you look at the water and sewer side, there's so much infrastructure work that the village is still currently in process on or for the next three, four, five years that we will have to continue to work on to stay compliant with the EPA.”The ordinance passed after a 3-3 tie, with Mayor R. Kevin Jones casting the tiebreaking vote.Next, the positions must be approved by the village solicitor within 30 days. Once that happens, the village administrator will sign a full-time contract. The village’s current income tax administrator is also leaving, and the village expects a savings of $50,000 as it transitions tax collections to RITA.</div></body>
