It’s been over six years since the project was last produced, and Communications Studies 3620, titled “Sports Communication,” is looking to bring it back to life. The 20 members of Sports Communication each have a different role in every episode’s production. Jobs range from on-air talent work, to scriptwriting, to managing lighting and audio and more.Communications Studies Co-Chair Dr. Christopher Claüs wants to connect Stan Students with student athletes through Warrior Rewind. The project highlights star athletes, recent games and what’s coming up next.“We talk in the classroom [about] opportunities for experiential learning. There’s something that’s beyond abstract, or theory or foundation that allows students to actually put those things that they learned into practice,” Claüs said.

Christopher Claüs overseeing the Sports Communication students in the DBH Production Studio on Oct. 6, 2026 in Turlock. He believes a hands-on approach to Sports Communication will give students a more thorough understanding of any job that they take after Stan State.Annie Wild (Communications Studies, Junior) is both a student athlete and a student in Sports Communication. She enjoys working on separate sides of athletics and giving her fellow student athletes the credit they deserve.“Working on Warrior Rewind has been a great way to get involved with athletics in a way that isn’t just competing. It’s fun to be able to highlight the accomplishments made by our student athletes,” Wild said.

Annie Wild hosting Warrior Rewind in the DBH Production Studio on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026 in Turlock. The web show takes clips from notable sporting events over the past week and highlights them during the program.Warrior Rewind is student led and student run. Other than Claüs’ work as a director and Kevin Gasaway’s (DBH Studio, Media Production Specialist) help throughout the process, every idea comes from a student in the class.Catherine Collins (Communications Studies, Junior) is an anchor and scriptwriter for Warrior Rewind. She’s new to production but has quickly found her footing after some initial obstacles.“The work pays off once you actually get into the studio and get to see how far we’ve come and how we’ve been able to become more natural behind the camera and just express ourselves,” Collins said.

Catherine Collins at a surf shop in Pismo on Oct. 23, 2026. Claüs wants to focus on the student-led side of things when Sports Communication returns.“I think keeping that vision, right? That [it’s] a student run entity [which] gives you efficacy and confidence. I think it’s important for anybody that wants to be a part of or as close to television as possible because it’s an experience unlike any other, truly,” Claüs said.
