The halloween bash was planned and organized by freshman student government to let Metea staff bring their little kids to have halloween fun. One of the student government sponsors, Sydney Neukirch, talks about how the event can connect with people of all ages.

“We have almost 20 activities this year. We have a lot of beanbag toss games, some ring toss games.” Neukirch said. “We have games that can be played by parents and children together”

Over the years, the activities present at the Halloween bash have fluctuated and adapted based on what children enjoy. In early years, students running the event have gone on sites like Amazon to help invent game ideas. Now, stations like face painting have surfaced with the help of the Art Honor Society.

“The National Art Honor Society usually helps out with face painting.” Neukirch said. “National English Honor Society always host a story corner where they have their members come in and read Halloween stories with the kids”

However, not everything with the Halloween Bash is easy. Preparing for the event caused some roadbumps, primarily with creating ideas and enough games to fill the whole event. Freshman Aarav Singh talked about another struggle that they have seen.

“The biggest problem was coordination, but now it’s improved because all those people are here and we’re all coping”, Singh said.

While there are some struggles with running the event, the halloween bash does hold a purpose. The event intends to introduce the mini-mustangs to a place that could be their high school in the future, and prompt them to think about what is to come.

“The kids are here for part of the day, and we hope that this becomes a special place for the parents and the families too, and also get the little kids connected and thinking about the high schools that they might go to someday”, Neukirch said.
