This year’s competition featured 1,296 academic tests, including three new events: Strategic Communication Press Release, Theatre Monologue and Impromptu Speech.Stevens earned the Division I title, while Sidney High School claimed Division II, Valentine High School took Division III, Ainsworth High School won Division IV and Arthur County High School earned Division V.Beyond the academic competition, students had opportunities to explore Chadron State College and participate in a variety of campus activities between testing sessions. Options included planetarium shows, a horseshoe scavenger hunt, country swing dancing, open gym, games, fingerprinting with a Justice Studies professor and even a mountain lion necropsy.Individual students also had opportunities to earn recognition for their performance. First-place junior and senior test winners were eligible for a $500 Scholastic Achievement Award or a non-renewable, non-transferable tuition waiver. Additional awards included sweatshirts for test winners, medals for the top three finishers in each subject, certificates of merit for students placing in the top 25% and participation certificates for all competitors. The contest dates back to 1961, when Chadron State College welcomed 850 students from 41 schools for its first competition. Although the event’s largest turnout came in 1992, with 2,643 participants, the 2026 contest continued the tradition of bringing together academically talented students from across the region. For Stevens, earning the Division I championship was an opportunity to represent the school and celebrate the academic accomplishments of its students beyond the traditional classroom.</div></body>
