Head on over to Hulu to watch it now!
Easter eggs from “A Dog with Two Tails”
• As Lee sleeps in the jail cell, “We Belong Together” by Ritchie Valens plays. Valens was a rock and roll pioneer who died in a tragic plane crash on Feb. 3, 1959, a date which has since become known as “The Day the Music Died.” The plane was also carrying Buddy Holly, J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson and Roger Peterson. Owasso’s Tommy Allsup was also supposed to be on that flight, but he lost a coin toss to Valens for a seat. Allsup credited losing that toss with saving his life.• Donald Washberg (Kyle MacLachlan) returns, and now acting as Oklahoma’s governor. MacLachlan recently released his memoir “Fictional Selves,” and it’s been charting Oklahoma’s Bestsellers list.• “Tulsa Straight Ahead” by Asleep at the Wheel plays as Lee and Donald get out of the SUV. The western swing group recently performed at the historic Cain’s Ballroom back in August.• Inside the café, Lee drinks from a Route 66 mug. On Nov. 11, the Mother Road will celebrate its centennial birthday. You can read that story here:• At Judge Jed Sallsman’s house, there’s a movie poster for “Dances with Wolves” hanging on the wall. The film features the late Graham Greene, who played Arthur in season 1. Wes Studi is also in “Dances with Wolves.” The Oklahoman attended Tulsa Community College and returned to his alma mater last year for a special event where he was honored by TCC. You can see a gallery from that occasion below:• Lee and Sallsman also talk about “Tombstone,” which features Rex Linn, an actor originally from OKC, and Michael Rooker, who studied at the University of Oklahoma.• Sallsman shows Lee and Donald a gavel that belonged to Isaac C. Parker, “The Hanging Judge.” Parker presided over the U.S. District Court for eleven Arkansas counties, as well as Indian Territory (present-day Oklahoma). The judge was known for his harsh application of capital punishment.• In the background of that same scene, you can see a chest that reads “Buffalo Bill’s Wild West,” an outdoor traveling show that traveled the U.S. Created by William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody, the show featured sharpshooter Annie Oakley.• “Saddle Tramp” by Marty Robbins plays at the trio rides horses on the ranch. This character is played by Krista Perry, who moved to Tulsa in 2012. Perry is a stunt coordinator and performer who has worked on productions like “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Reservation Dogs,” “Dark Winds” and more.• Daveed Diggs is the narrator for the documentary that Sallsman shows Lee and Donald about the diversion program, Fresh Start. You might recognize Diggs’ voice from his role as Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette in “Hamilton.” Diggs also starred in “Snowpiercer.” See more information about him at the end of the article!• Darla, the public defender that Ginger shares her office with, has an Oklahoma State University lanyard hanging from the lamp on her desk.• As Lee is dropped off by Donald at his van, Samantha Crain’s “Belly” begins to play. Read all about it here: • As everyone bowls, “Surefire” by Tulsa’s own Wilderado plays. Wilderado, along with Ken Pomeroy, will be playing a sold-out show at Cain’s Ballroom on Nov. 11 in celebration of Route 66’s centennial.• During the same scene, Pomeroy’s song “Pareidolia” plays. Pine St.• “Everybody Daylight” by Brightblack Morning Light plays as the episode comes to an end.• The episode is directed by Rafael Casal, who plays Johnny (Francis’ stepdad) in the show. Casal and Daveed Diggs released “Blindspotting” together in 2018, writing, directing, producing and starring in the film. Casal also appears in Ethan Hawke’s film “Wildcat.”

Rafael Casal as Johnny Shane Brown/FX
