This week, we profile a pair of San Juan County’s top girls and boys soccer stars.Cameron Ford, Boys SoccerWhat began as an early introduction to high-level competition during his eighth-grade year has developed into an impressive varsity career for Bloomfield High School’s Cameron Ford. Since then, Ford has flourished into one of the Bobcats’ leading offensive threats and a key contributor to the program’s continued success.Throughout his four seasons, he has helped the Bobcats produce four consecutive winning records and three straight District 1-4A titles. His performance reached another level this fall with a career-best offensive season, earning recognition as the Tri-City Record’s 2026 Legends of the Fall boys soccer honoree.Bloomfield continued its district dominance this year, finishing 11-8-2 overall and 7-1 in league play to secure another District 1-4A crown. The Bobcats also earned a fourth consecutive New Mexico Activities Association Class 4A state tournament berth before falling 6-1 to Chaparral in the opening round.“(Ford) is an impact player. At any point during the game Cam has the ability to takeover and effect the results,” said Bloomfield head coach Scott Reid. He is very dangerous offensively. In fact, that has been noticed by our opponents throughout this season because they have chosen to man mark him. Which doesn’t happen often in soccer but that’s how much Cam is feared.“Ford has played a significant role in that run, accumulating 77 varsity appearances, 36 goals and 21 assists for 93 career points. His junior campaign proved to be his most productive yet. After recording six goals as a freshman and seven as a sophomore, he exploded for 23 goals and seven assists across 20 games, totaling 53 points. His 23 goals surpassed his combined output from his first three seasons, while his 2.7 points-per-game average marked a substantial jump from his previous career best of 1.1.Ford’s offensive presence extended beyond the scoreboard. He recorded 72 shots this season, putting 71 on goal for a 98.6% accuracy rate. He also logged 1,420 minutes, averaging 71 minutes per game.“The young man is an absolute workhorse. He does not seem to get tired. He has played just about every minute of every game this season and his effort remains at a high level for all 80 minutes of the game,” Reid said. From an eighth-grade newcomer to an offensive anchor, Ford enters his senior year with an opportunity to add another chapter to an already accomplished prep career.Bella Waite, Girls SoccerBloomfield junior Bella Waite has come a long way since earning a spot on the varsity roster as a freshman. Over three seasons, she has helped lead the Bobcats girls soccer program to three consecutive playoff appearances while developing into one of the team’s most reliable offensive threats.Waite’s progress reached a new milestone this fall, earning her recognition in the Tri-City Record’s Legends of the Fall 2026 cohort.Across Waite’s three seasons, Bloomfield has compiled a 42-16-6 overall record, highlighted by an undefeated 8-0-2 district campaign and first-place finish during her freshman year. The Bobcats placed third in district play her sophomore season before taking second place this past fall with a 16-5-1 overall mark and 7-2-1 league record. Their playoff run ended in the quarterfinals with a 10-0 loss to Hope Christian.Individually, Waite delivered a prolific season, tallying 30 goals and seven assists across 20 games for 67 points. She tripled her sophomore total of 10 goals and nearly tripled her previous point production, averaging 1.5 goals and 3.4 points per contest. Her 30 goals accounted for more than half of her career scoring, lifting her totals to 46 goals, 15 assists and 107 points across 59 matches.Bloomfield head coach Jarly Lopez praised Waite’s development, pointing to her resilience, poise and unselfish play.“Bella returned to the fundamentals and in trusting her confidence, her perseverance paid off, helping her regain her scoring touch when her team needed it most,” Lopez said. “Whether playing midfield or striker, Bella always puts the team first and elevates those around her with her positive attitude and work ethic.”Waite’s knack for delivering in clutch moments was on display during the opening round of the state tournament against Manzano. With the match scoreless through regulation, she found the back of the net in overtime for the lone goal of the contest, securing a 1-0 victory and sending the Bobcats to the quarterfinals.“In our Lady Bobcats’ playoff over Manzano, she remained calm under pressure and alongside her hardworking teammates, helped lead us into the state quarterfinals,” Lopez said. “For her commitment, resilience, academic excellence, and impact on and off the field, Bella is a deserving candidate for player of the county honors.”Through perseverance, confidence and commitment, Waite has become a player the Bobcats count on when the stakes are highest as she prepares for her final season in Bloomfield blue and gold.</div></body>
