(WKHM) — A residential structure fire that took place on Wednesday afternoon is under investigation. On November 4 at around 2:17 p.m., Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety (DPS) and multiple other fire and emergency units were dispatched to the 5000 block of Rives Junction Road for the reported residential structure fire.Upon arrival, smoke was observed coming from the eaves of a single-story residence. Crews entered the home and encountered heavy smoke and flames, with the fire appearing to have originated in the basement.Fire suppression efforts were complicated by the fire’s location and the structural integrity of the first floor, which had been compromised by the flames.Fire officials say the hazardous conditions made accessing the basement fire particularly challenging for firefighters.Despite these obstacles, crews were able to gain access to the fire and successfully extinguish it. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The DPS was joined and/or assisted by Jackson County Central Dispatch, Jackson City Fire Department, Summit Township Fire Department, Spring Arbor Fire Department, Napoleon Fire, Grass Lake Fire Department, Rives Junction Fire Department, Henrietta Township Fire Department, Parma-Sandstone Fire Department, Jackson District Ambulance Rescue Team (J-DART), Jackson Community Ambulance, and Baileys Excavating.</div></body>
