So that was good and the yields were phenomenal. I know of people that got 80 bushel field averages on fields that never received that before and I think the August rains helped there.”Bjorklund points out that yields for corn are averaging 220 to 240 bushels per acre, with the key for both crops being that they were through the majority of production before the September rainfalls came along. He talks about comparing this year’s harvest season to last year when southern rust was the big impactor for corn yields, dropping them down to an average of 190 bushels per acre, whereas this year, it was Mother Nature causing problems.“This abiotic, not a biological, but a weather impacted factor that started in April when we couldn’t plant early. So we’re already stretching that out. We get into June, we had a little bit of stress there and we’re wondering how many rows around are those ears going to produce. I think the stresses along the way almost like a death by a thousand cuts to lower up to what it was and yet when we got down to it and got to September and thinking, oh man, this is going to be bad for corn. It wasn’t as terrible was what we thought.”To hear more from Bjorklund about the harvest season wrapping up, listen to today’s Jefferson A&amp;W Let’s Talk Greene County program. </div></body>
