The Buckeye Ride Right campaign encourages the safety of pedestrians and electric transportation through an ordinance that will go into effect on Nov. 6, 2026. Riders have to comply with the following basic safety rules:

Wear safety gear: Helmets, reflectors and bright colored clothes keep you protected and visible.

Obey traffic laws: Stop at stop signs and observe traffic lights and signals the same way drivers do.

Be courteous: Watch for cars, look both ways and allow plenty of room for pedestrians on sidewalks and paths.

The city also has a guide for riders to understand the differences between electric transportation devices and the rules that apply to each including appropriate age to operate in the Buckeye. Riders who are under the age of 16-years-old and violate age requirements may result in a parent, guardian or legal custodian being cited. Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes or e-scooters are permitted on sidewalks, while Class 3 e-bikes are prohibited in the City of Buckeye parks, sidewalks, and public rights-of-way except for crossing streets, crosswalks, and intersections, according to the ordinance.
