The board just got put it up three months ago,” De Santiago said.De Santiago also said bugs are getting into her apartment through unfinished flooring.“We have ants, earwigs, cockroaches, spiders, crickets; they all come through there,” De Santiago said as she pointed to the unfinished flooring around her bathroom toilet. Brazos Residential told us it contracts Eagle Pest, which “comes weekly,” and said that “related to the ongoing plumbing fixes, they need to ensure that everything was working correctly with no leaks before closing it up.”Both residents also described ongoing frustration with hot water shut-offs.“We will go weeks, sometimes months, without hot water,” Powers said.“It barely got fixed; we didn't have hot water for 6 weeks,” De Santiago said.In a statement attributed to Will Handcock, Brazos Residential said, “When we bought the property, it had a long list of hot and cold-water issues, and none of the boilers were fully functioning. Since then, we’ve spent over a million dollars fixing problems at the property, including replacing the last two boiler systems so our residents can finally have the hot water they deserve.”If you are a renter, you can find more information regarding renters' rights by clicking the link. You can also find informative videos by visiting this website: Texas Law HelpIf you need to file a complaint regarding living conditions, you can do so by clicking the link or dialing 311.
