We’ve also seen institutions in Utah recently pull back from the healthcare they were providing here.”The clinic is meant to facilitate in-person first evaluations, to be followed by blood, cardiac and cancer tests locally. Patients whose initial tests confirm eligibility will still need to come to Seattle for final tests before receiving a transplant, UW said, but the clinic aims to reduce the need for long-distance trips early in patient’s evaluations.UW said Blosser and a nurse coordinator will be in Missoula for clinical-care visits every three months.UW said one 24-year-old Missoula resident named Jeff Stanavich was referred to the clinic by a local nephrologist for treatment. Stanavich had previously undergone two kidney transplants in Florida and needed to be evaluated again. “The UW coming here is really good news for people like me — so we don’t have to travel 700 miles [round-trip] just for an initial appointment,” Stanavich said in UW’s release.</div></body>
