Buckman says their Carbondale office is full of patients, many of whom they find bring their children from Williamson and neighboring counties. He hopes this new Marion office will relieve some of that need."Our goal is to try to get an access point as close to families as we possibly can, um, so that families are not traveling so far," Dr. Matt Buckman said. The center's seen more awareness in families that children as young as two and three can struggle with mental health issues."And we're providing services to that birth-to-five population, hoping to be able to intervene as early as possible so that there aren't larger issues that occur more in teenage years or in our young adulthood," Dr. Matt Buckman said.Aleeza Berube, Director of Services with SATTC, says some parents are fearful of negative consequences and hesitate to seek services. But she's seen a change in how people view mental health care."But even just last week I had a clinician tell me she did. She had a young kid, and she brought the dad in, and they had this breakthrough. Afterwards, the dad was like, 'Oh, therapy works!' He's like, 'Me, I need therapy!' And we're like, 'Yeah, yes, let's do that! That sounds great!'" Aleeza Berube said.Berube says they accept Medicaid and find ways to provide services to all patients regardless of their ability to pay. They want more families to get the help that they need.</div></body>
