<div>SPOKANE, Wash. — Thrive's downtown facility now sports a new sign: "For Sale."That means Thrive's stay in the hotel, coming to an end by the end of October."We’ve been told that the building is on the market and they expect a sale to close on the building sometime in October," Executive Director Mark Finney told NonStop Local. "We have let our residents know we are trying to get everyone rehoused by the end of October."According to Finney, that's approximately 35 families that need to be rehoused.“Most months we transition 5-10 families out into stability," Finney said. "We’ve continued to do that, we’re increasing the pace a little bit.”The sale of the property, just the latest in 2-years of legal conflict between Thrive and the property owners. In 2024, court documents show the Owners suing Thrive International for $362,353 for "missed property insurance payments."After years of back and forth, an arbitration award was presented to the judge, and Thrive was order to pay $3,347,516, nearly 10 times the original invoiced bill for Property Insurance.Since NonStop Local's original investigation, court documents have also indicated that there has been a stay on legal proceedings, and that the property owners have also entered into a receivership. Essentially, third parties now controlling the debts and assets for both Thrive and the property owners. In a Thrive Newsletter earlier this month, Finney wrote: "The building owners ran into financial distress over the years and the building is being sold, displacing Thrive's staff and residents."And while Thrive has stopped accepting new residents, there are families in the building that will need to leave, Finney explained. NonStop Local asked Finney if they could be moved to other Thrive facilities like in Tacoma, or to Thrive's low-income housing in North Spokane, or if outside arrangements would be made. "Over the past several years, we’ve been able to develop connections with other apartment buildings, low income housing providers that we’ve referred folks to for housing," Finney said. "That’s who we are working with to help our families find other housing. We’re trying to find a great place for every single person who lives here now."Finney didn't share the specifics of these relocations, but did mention potential help from other refugee agencies in the Spokane area. As for the future of Thrive in Spokane, Finney said they are working now on a new facility. But Finney explained that new facility might not include housing, and would instead only have room for their community programs.NonStop Local asked Finney if Thrive's future could be called "uncertain."He said there are challenges facing all organizations doing this work. "I think any organization that's focusing on serving immigrants right now is really facing a lot of challenges, there isn't a five year plan for anybody, because we don't know how government policies are going to change from week to week," Finney said.</div>
