(WIBW) - The extreme heat may be coming to an end, but it’s left a lasting impact on Kansas farmers.A&amp;H Farm in Manhattan is one of the many farms dealing with the lingering heat.“I’ve been in the industry all my life, I grew up doing farming,” owner Andrea DeJesus said. “I’ve owned this farm 2010. And some years are better than others.”She said this year has brought its challenges.“I do it because I love it, I want my kids to grow up in it,” DeJesus said. “I know times are bad right now, but you know what. Farmers, we dig deep, we figure out a way to make it work, and we will make it work.”DeJesus says the extreme heat has taken a toll on her crops.“It’s just much, much harder on us,” she said. “If this would’ve happened in July, the plants would’ve been able to handle it a lot better than here it is towards the end of their life cycle.”She also says it’s affecting her business.“It can be devastating because not only do we have high input cost with seed, and chemicals and fuel, now our crops not even going to come to production,” DeJesus said. “So you know, we were counting on these bushels being harvested this fall to help pay all those bills that we incurred this spring and we may not have that now.”But she’s confident the community she provides for will continue to support her.“I know they will,” DeJesus said. “We have a great community here and we’re lucky we are diversified between the road crops and the livestock and our agri-tourism. So buying direct from the farmers is the best way to do it.”Northeast Kansas saw some rain showers Wednesday, but DeJesus says it might be too little, too late. </div></body>
