The greatest uncertainty lies along the offensive and defensive fronts, where several players will be adjusting to new positions and expanded roles.“We have a good core of our skill-position players returning, which will be a big strength for us,” Allen said. “We have a lot of new faces on our offensive and defensive lines, so I think we will get better each week as guys become more comfortable in their positions.”Senior Bennett Plenge returns at quarterback and outside linebacker, while seniors Reid Sammons, Lukas Weaver and Conner Waples provide experience at wide receiver and defensive back.Senior Grady Webster returns at fullback and outside linebacker, and senior Cash Wilson will contribute at tight end and defensive end. Senior Cashtyn Sutterfield is a returning presence on the offensive and defensive lines.Junior Dallas Davis gives the Indians additional versatility. He is listed at fullback, offensive line and linebacker.Allen also identified a large group of players who could make an impact as they step into larger roles. That group includes running back and defensive back Landon Roberts; wide receivers and defensive backs Isaiah Kiger and Kyson Gordy; running back and linebacker Gabe Tournear; and quarterback and defensive back Treyvin Hamner.Several players will be counted on to strengthen the line, including Joseph “Joey” Allen, Jensen Baum, Tristan Batley, Isaiah Washburn, Samuel Miller, Lance Jacobson and Hunter Heinze. With many players learning new responsibilities, Allen said the Indians’ preseason focus has been on developing a complete understanding of the offensive and defensive systems.“We need to continue to understand our playbook on both offense and defense,” Allen said. “The more everyone is on the same page, the better we will be.”Allen said that challenge is common early in the season, particularly when a team has several players stepping into new roles.“That is the biggest challenge at the beginning of any season, especially when we have several new guys playing,” Allen said. “I am confident that the guys will figure it out, and we will continue to get better all season.”The Indians again expect a demanding conference schedule. Clark County’s district is composed primarily of conference opponents, giving the Indians familiarity with many of the teams they could face during the postseason.“The conference will be very competitive this season, just like every year,” Allen said. “The district is primarily made up of conference schools, so we will know what to expect, and we will have to play well at that point.”Clark County’s primary objective is to make steady progress throughout the regular season and enter district play performing at its highest level.“Our biggest goal every season is to be playing our best when we get to Week 10 so that we can continue to play into the playoffs,” Allen said. “We want to be competitive each and every week to be ready to compete at a high level in district play.”COACHING STAFFEthan Allen, head coachBrock EgleyJaden BethelZach NixonLayne SommersColt SommersKyle AndersonLance SmithStats and film:Alexis Hageman, Kaitlyn Shuman, Mallory Waples and Lauren Schutte.</div></body>
