Speaking on that, that sounds good, 42 out of 44, but when we look at it, we have been around that number for years now. And every year we get additional parcels," he said.He said while the budgeted number of positions is 44, ideally the office should have 55 positions in total to compensate for the number of parcels in the county. He explained that the amount of land itself is not changing, but as more development moves in, particularly in Rio Rancho, the focus on parcels expands.According to Olona, there was an increase by about 1,000 parcels, causing total taxable value to jump from about $3.6 billion to $4.5 billion.After including livestock and exemptions, Sandoval County's total taxable value is more than $1.3 trillion for personal property.Olona stated the county's strengths come from the assessor's office staff's certifications, but it's weaknesses stem from an imbalance between the number ot appraisers and parcels. Additionally, he expressed concern for staff burnout and potential retention issues if they remain understaffed.He also requested a close working relationship with the commission to help increase staffing levels "to ensure a more thorough assessment of all properties and exemptions."</div></body>
