The city’s Judiciary and Administration Committee holds a special meeting at City Hall on Wednesday, September 2 to discuss the licenses for Bennett O’Riley’s and Del’s Bar. According to online documents prepared by La Crosse Police for the committee, they said both bars were the subject of multiple alcohol-related enforcement actions during the 2025-26 license year which runs between July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.

For Bennett O’Riley’s, police said that they had documented incidents including underage people in the bar consuming alcohol, and failed compliance checks. The president of the business, Daron Householder, was cited in December and convicted in January of allowing underage persons in a bar, according to the police documents, in La Crosse Municipal Court.

Police also said bartenders at Del’s Bar failed compliance checks when the department conducted two of them. The documents state that police sent in volunteer underage individuals who presented their actual ID to bartenders and were sold alcohol. Both bartenders were later convicted in municipal court for the violations. The meeting will provide an opportunity for the owners to present their case before the committee makes any decisions. In June, two other businesses, Tequila’s and the Citgo gas station, lost their liquor licenses.
