At last night’s Presque Isle City Council meeting, city staff recommended denying that license. But management showed up to make their case.Wednesday night, at the Presque Isle City Council meeting, city officials said public safety staff had raised serious concerns about the Time Out Sports Bar &amp; Restaurant. The bar and restaurant has been closed since June 23rd, waiting for the renewal of its liquor license. Despite the city recommending denying the license, management for the bar and restaurant showed up and made a case for the renewal. The city reversed their original decision, with city manager Sonja Eyler providing a statement about the situation saying quote, “The City Council carefully considered the matter and exercised its independent authority to approve the license. We respect and support the Council’s decision. Going forward, the City will continue working with the license holder, law enforcement, and the appropriate regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and to protect the safety of patrons and the broader community.”Management says the trouble started when they missed the deadline to renew their liquor license. Leslie Dias, one management member said, “We were unaware that the renewal had to be done well in advance.”A.K. Sharma, the General Hotel Manager at Time Out added, “Yeah, basically we are new in this business.”“Very new.” Dias continued.“And new in this area.” Sharma added.Dias says they now have a plan to address the city’s concerns. Limiting live entertainment, hiring experienced bouncers, and purchasing ID scanners. “Live music all the time it lends for a much more rowdy environment and when you introduce alcohol and live music, loud music it’s a tough environment to control. So, I wouldn’t say frequently that we had the police presence but they did… whether they came more so to the parking lot to defray something, but we want to keep that at bay. We don’t want that to have to happen. So, I think with our limitations that we discussed tonight going forward would be best for everyone when it comes to the sport bar.” City councilors ultimately unanimously approved the liquor license for Time Out. Management says once the paperwork is finalized, they plan to reopen as soon as possible under their new guidelines.</div></body>
