(WTVA) — Two Tupelo educators are heading into the new school year with statewide recognition. Aundrea Adams and Sherry McGaughy were honored by the Mississippi Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) for their outstanding work. Adams received the New Teacher of the Year award, while McGaughy earned the Counseling and Career Development Professional of the Year award. The honors were presented during the Mississippi ACTE Summer Conference in Biloxi, recognizing excellence in career and technical education across the state. “It felt great,” said McGaughy, the Student Services Coordinator at the Tupelo Career Technical Center. “I have attended that conference for about seven years. I watched others receive the award, and for me to be on the center stage this year, it feels really good.” “There are a lot of new teachers who are just as deserving of this award,” said Adams, the instructor for Digital Media at the Tupelo Career Technical Center. “To be able to go on stage and be recognized, it was amazing. It was a good feeling.” Both teachers shared that they hope to continue to inspire their students both in the classroom and beyond. </div></body>
