(WCTV) - The Thomaville Bulldogs aren’t young, they’re just inexperienced.Head coach Jonathan DeLay said from spring until now, the Dogs have made tremendous growth. He has the tall task of replacing quarterback Cam Hill as well as Lavonte Cole, who had nearly 900 yards receiving last year, as well as receiver Nigel Pittman, who set the regular and single season school record for touchdowns last fall.DeLay said they have talented guys ready and waiting to take over those roles, guys that played last season but now have to step up to be the guy.“What I’ve told them is you’re going to hear a ton of noise. You’re going to hear it and that’s fine,” he said. “You could do one of two things. You could prove the noise right, or you could prove the noise wrong. This is still Thomasville. This is a historic program. You could become that household name. You could can go make the plays. You could be the one that teams have to defend or make sure we have to know where that person is on defense. That’s exciting going into this 2026 year.”Thomasville opens the season at Cairo August 21st.To keep up with the latest news as it develops, follow WCTV on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Nextdoor and X (Twitter).Have a news tip or see an error?
