We have more dogs than we have safe places to house them. We have exhausted every kennel, every run, and every option we can safely use," P.A.W.S. said. "We have fought incredibly hard to maintain our no-kill status, and thanks to this community, we have done it. But no shelter—no matter how committed—can save lives without space. If we cannot create space immediately through adoptions or foster homes, euthanasia will become unavoidable. There is no easy way to say that, and there is no part of our staff or volunteers that wants to make those decisions. We entered this field to save lives, not end them.

The shelter is waiving all adoption fees, thanks to a grant, and is asking anyone who can consider adoption or fostering. P.A.W.S said it provides supplies, medical care, and support for people interested in fostering.

If you have been thinking about adopting, now is the time," P.A.W.S. said. "If you’re not ready to make a lifetime commitment, please consider fostering or foster-to-adopt. We provide supplies, medical care, and support—you provide a safe place for a dog to decompress while we continue searching for a forever home. Every kennel that opens means another homeless dog has a chance. Help us make sure our next difficult decision is sending a dog home with a family, not deciding which life we no longer have room to save."

Adoption hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

For more local news delivered straight to your inbox, sign up for our daily newsletter by clicking here.
