<body><div><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=0eRY5w_1CbDNnKI00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0eRY5w_1CbDNnKI00" width="1200" height="600" >LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) - Drivers on U.S. 52 in Lawrence County between South Point and Ironton could experience a new bump in the road, after the concrete buckled Sunday night.A spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Transportation told WSAZ it could be due to a variety of factors, including heat, the age of the road, or a combination.“There’s really nothing that we can do because the roadway was built so long ago in that base layer underneath there,” Mikaela Bruning of ODOT told WSAZ. “As time goes, if it is due to the concrete and the weak joints that might be there. That’s just something that’s going to happen over time. And with the heat, that’s another thing that we can’t really control either.”This is the second instance of road buckling on U.S. 52 within a half-mile stretch in a year. While there may not be much ODOT can do to prevent the buckling, Bruning said they aim to be quick on the scene when it does occur, including Sunday night.“Last night, for example, they were able to take a grinder on a skid steer, and mill some of that surface out to make it flatter,” she told WSAZ Monday. “Now, what we have to do is kind of monitor that over the next few weeks or months to see what that pavement in that spot does.”ODOT urges drivers that see an unsafe road buckling to call their local authorities, which will start the repair process to make the bump smoother and safer to drive.</div></body>
