(WTOK) - Sumter County residents can travel with more ease as ALDOT completes a big project ahead of schedule.Twenty-five new roadway lights have been added to US-80 at the intersection of SR-28 and County Road 25.This project represents the state’s mission to invest in safety and efficiency. “This lighting project will bring safety to any and everyone who is traveling through Sumter County. We’ve had some horrific accidents in the past, some fatalities, but since this has been done... there has not been a fatality,” said Marcus Campbell, the Chairman of the Sumter County Commission.“It’s a great example of a partnership between local officials and the Alabama Department of Transportation. The County did sponsor the project, and that partnership allowed this project to get done. It improves the safety of this intersection to help them to navigate the roadway better,” said Wallace McAdory, region engineer with ALDOT.Campbell would like to thank everyone who helped bring the lighting project to completion.</div></body>
