Trujillo's second touchdown run of the night, a 36-yarder with about three minutes left, erased a 19-14 deficit for the Dons (3-1), ranked fourth this week in New Mexico Class 3A by MaxPreps. Junior quarterback Caydin Encinias added a 2-point conversion run for the final margin."We had our chances to win," Rams coach Jaime Ramirez said. The Rams reclaimed the lead when sophomore running back Slade Segovia raced 96 yards for a score in the final minute of the third frame.PHS had a pair of cracks at field goals in the final four minutes but came up empty, with the latter blocked by the Dons in the final minute."At times we played well," Ramirez said. "But we definitely have to figure some things out."He said Lee, thrown into the fire as a freshman, is progressing well."I think he's getting better every game," Ramirez said. "I know we didn't win this game, but I saw a lot of positives."Portales has its work cut out in Friday's 7 p.m. District 2-4A opener against Manzano (3-1) at Steve Loy Stadium.
