(WDAM) - The City of Laurel has converted a busy roadway area into a four-way stop because of safety concerns. The new four-way is at the intersection of Audubon and College drives and Old Bush Dairy Road in north Laurel.Laurel Police Department Capt. Michael Reaves said the city got several complaints about the area.Reaves said the old setup made it difficult for drivers to cross east to west to get out into traffic.“We reviewed (it) and we had several accidents in that area,” Reaves said. “Hopefully, this will alleviate that. The motoring public needs to be aware that that is now a four-way intersection. We’ve increased patrols in that area and we will be writing tickets for individuals running the stop signs."“Stop ahead” signs have been placed to alert drivers of the change.Want more WDAM 7 news in your inbox?
