(WDAM) - Leaders in Laurel shared that the city’s downtown area has seen an overall property value increase of more than $5 million.The Laurel Main Street Association pulled tax data from 2008, 2017 and 2024.Executive Director Caroline Burks said the boost mainly comes from a renewed interest in downtown’s businesses.Burks said it’s also due to grants, events and other resources provided by LMA and other organizations.“We don’t take credit for all of that,” said Burks. “We have had some visionary business owners that have put their hearts and souls into their buildings.We can’t discount the boost that ‘Home Town’ has given us.
