(WSAZ) - As the region is getting ready for a windy weekend--emergency crews are prepared for worst case scenarios.“We are prepared for whatever will happen,” Lewis County Emergency Manager Dennis Brown said.Brown says they tested all of their equipment and have crews ready for whatever mother nature throws their way.“We will be watching and warning and we hope that they will have multiple ways that they will be monitoring the weather for their area,” Brown said. “Lewis County is a large rural county, so the weather in one end of the county maybe totally different from the other end.”Scioto County officials are in monitoring mode and Larry Mullins, Scioto County EMA, says this storm is reminding him of the flooding from a month ago, so if you live in an flood prone area to be extra prepared.“What if five foot of water comes in your basement, kind of go down there and pictures or heirlooms or stuff like that,” Mullins said. “I would be moving things just in case.”It is expected that West Virginia will have 40 to 50 mph winds on Sunday. CW Sigman, Kanawha County’s emergency director, says crews have tested their machines and are ready for the storm.“We do this all the time and the storm coming for the north, south, west, or east to watch the direction of it gets worse or stronger, but this time of year we are used to doing it,” Sigman said.Brown says to stay up to date with the forecast, check your weather radios, and be safe.“Secure any outdoor objects, be prepared if you are out traveling, be prepared for any high water--of course turn around and don’t drown and don’t drive into any high water. You do not know what’s there--and also be on the lookout for any debris and trees that maybe on the roadways or travel hazards,” Brown said.Emergency management directors are encouraging people to sign up for weather alerts with their county.</div></body>
