They almost have to get a ride somehow.”It’s ideas like those that Council Bluffs is working with for its Linkages Study, which aims to identify multimodal and transit connections between the two downtown areas.Along with consulting firm Felsburg Holt and Ullevig, they held the first of three public workshops on it in October.“What we’re trying to do with the project, and get their initial input on features in Council Bluffs, things that they would want to connect to, different community assets,” said Felsburg Holt and Ullevig’s Great Plains regional director Mark Meisinger.“That was very informative,” said Council Bluffs chief of staff Brandon Garrett. “Lots of different opportunities for comment and identification for preferred modes and preferred routes through the community, preferred locations to cross the Missouri River.”Also, whether they’d like it to be by bus, streetcar, or something like Omaha’s ORBT system. There has been a delay though. Before they can hold the next workshop, they need numbers on traffic demand from MAPA.On Thursday, officials were going over potential alternative routes based on impacts to neighborhoods, job access, and housing opportunities.“The committee here provided feedback to the consultant on that in order to kind of narrow that down from 12 to maybe four or five, kind of for the next consideration.”Council Bluffs and its partners said they’re looking to wrap up the Linkages Study in the first half of 2026.</div></body>
