The coalition’s current contract, with Energy Harbor, is up at the end of May.Several cities in Northwest Ohio are part of the coalition.“What we do is we combine our efforts and our buying power so to speak to get better pricing out on the market,” said Joel Mazur, Oregon’s City Administrator. The coalition’s energy consultant, Palmer Energy, has negotiated a new contract with Dynegy. For customers who already opted into NOAC, it’ll come with higher rates than what Energy Harbor offered previously. Palmer Energy cited prices for the wholesale electric market on an upward climb, as the reasoning. The Energy Harbor contract was negotiated in 2022 at $0.063 per kWh. The Dynegy rate is now $0.0975 per kWh.However, the recommendations from Palmer Energy say it’ll still be cheaper than the FirstEnergy rates. Palmer Energy estimates it’s $3 per month cheaper for the average residential customer versus the projected utility PTC.Each city within the coalition has to approve the new agreement. The city of Oregon was set to approve it Monday but didn’t have enough council members present. They’ll vote at a special meeting next Monday.Energy Harbor rates will stop on May 26. The Dynegy rates will take over from there for the June pay period.Palmer has recommended NOAC start with executing the 12-month offer from Dynegy.Latest Local News | First Alert Weather | Crime | National | 13abc Originals</div></body>
