Jeff Teague Claims Stephen Curry Will Be Tied With Kobe Bryant On GOAT List If He Wins Another Ring

Jeff Teague believes Stephen Curry is just one ring away from being mentioned in the same breath as Kobe Bryant . On the latest episode of the Club 520 podcast, Teague was asked if Curry would become a top-five player of all time with another title and he had an interesting response.

"He's the best point guard ever," Teague said. "Top-five player of all time? ... Yeah, he gonna be in that mix if he get another. I just don't see too many people better than him... He get another ring, he definitely up there with Kobe now."

Safe to say, that Teague thinks very highly of Curry. To go with that Bryant take, he believes the Golden State Warriors superstar has already surpassed Magic Johnson to become the greatest point guard ever. It is an opinion that is starting to become more prevalent, but I'd still give the edge to Johnson there.

As for Teague's belief that Curry will be up there with Bryant if he wins another title, it has proved to be somewhat controversial in multiple ways. Many believe the 36-year-old already did it when he won his fourth championship in 2022 while others believe he will still be nowhere near the Los Angeles Lakers icon with another title. So, let's compare their accomplishments thus far.

Stephen Curry's Career Stats : 24.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game

Kobe Bryant's Career Stats : 25.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game

    Stephen Curry's Accomplishments : 4x NBA champion, 1x Finals MVP, 2x MVP, 10x All-Star, 4x All-NBA First Team, 4x All-NBA Second Team, 2x All-NBA Third Team, 2x NBA scoring champion, 1x Steals leader

    Kobe Bryant's Accomplishments : 5x NBA champion, 2x Finals MVP, 1x MVP, 18x All-Star, 11x All-NBA First Team, 2x All-NBA Second Team, 2x All-NBA Third Team, 9x NBA All-Defensive First Team, 3x NBA All-Defensive Second Team, 2x NBA scoring champion

If you compare their accomplishments on paper, I would have to give Bryant the edge as of now. Another title and Finals MVP for Curry would bridge that gap between them in my opinion, so I'd agree with Teague there. As for whether Curry would be a top-five player of all time with another ring, I wouldn't go that far.

Jeff Teague Thinks James Harden Is The Third-Best Shooting Guard Of All Time

Staying with Teague and all-time rankings, this wasn't the first time he had gone viral for a take on that topic. Teague interestingly believes James Harden is the third-best shooting guard of all time, ahead of Dwyane Wade.

"I think James Harden is the number three shooting guard of all time," said Teague. "Just like watching his game, going against him, competing against him, it was a real-life scheme. You had to scheme for Dwyane Wade, too, but James Harden, when he was by himself in Houston, they were going to the WCF, averaging 35, 8, and 8... he was unguardable. No offense to DWade but before LeBron got to Miami, y'all were competing with us (the Hawks)."

Well, before LeBron James got to the Miami Heat in 2010, Wade had already led the team to a title in 2006, so I am not sure that's a valid point. Harden, on the other hand, has never won a championship despite playing alongside some great players and that's why I wouldn't put him over Wade.

Magic Johnson is the best PG ever. Steph is the second best. Steph is the top 10 ever right now. I don't see the top 5 ever, though. There are just too many over the history of the NBA. In the 21st century, he's top 3 right now and would pass Kobe for 2nd of the 21st century.
